07.01.2006 The National Opera of Ukraine. Lidiya Zabilyasta sings Cio-Cio-san (Madama Butterly) in Giacomo Puccinis opera.
There were tears, rapid heart-beating and shivering As a matter of fact, the music of the famous Italian composer favours all this!
Lidiya Zabilyasta says that the part of Madama Butterfly is a turning point in her life. She still follows the traditions of the previous director of the opera Iryna Molostova, thats why some moments of the performance playing by Lidiya Zabilyasta are unique, for instance Cio-Cio-sans death.
This part with its physical and psychological load became a very serious examination for my capacities. When I passed 2 months of the rehearsals of Cio-Cio-San, crawling on my knees in the morning and in the evening (that was the directors idea for the performance), in addition to that my own child was very small at that time, and I came through, then to tell you the truth, at last I believed in myself as a singer.
